A division bench of MP high court on Friday issued notices to respondents in connection with a petition alleging that buses run on permits issued in name of Bhopal municipal corporation operated from Bhopal to other places and tax worth crores was evaded.

The petition filed by RTI activist Bhupendra Kumar Jain said that the company which had obtained permits to operate buses in the limits of Bhopal municipal corporation (BMC) from the transport department operated its buses from Bhopal to other places and evaded tax worth crores of rupees.

The petitioner said that a petition was filed in the MP high court in this regard earlier also but despite the directive of the court to take action in the matter, nothing was done to recover the tax from the company concerned. Principal secretary, transport, commissioner transport, secretary state transport authority, RTO Bhopal, municipal commissioner Bhopal and M/s Capital Roadway & Finance Ltd are respondents in the case.

Following preliminary arguments, the division bench of Chief Justice R V Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra issued notices to respondents seeking a response. The case will now be heard on January 10. Advocate Brijesh Kumar Dubey appeared for the petitioner.
