Considering a petition by the state government during an admission hearing, Justice Devan Ramachandran directed for issuing notice by special messenger to Ciza Thomas and posted the case for a hearing on Friday.
The government had alleged that the appointment is in violation of the law. As per the university’s statute, the charge of the vice chancellor should have been handed over to another vice chancellor or the pro vice-chancellor or the secretary of the higher education department, the government had contended. Following the appointment, Ciza Thomas had taken charge as the interim vice-chancellor on Friday.
Protests continue against Ciza
Meanwhile, SFI workers and pro-left employees’ union leaders continued their protest against Dr Ciza Thomas when she attended office after a day’s gap on Tuesday.
The SFI workers, who raised slogans against Ciza Thomas and the governor, entered the university campus by the afternoon when the acting vice chancellor was about to leave her office. tnn
